Well known in the resort
and surf wear industries for the past fifteen years,
bringing to it the inspiration of her coastal Southern
California lifestyle. Heidi Dobrott's kitchy, campy,
often conversational artwork has been seen on thousands
who have worn an aloha shirt or slipped on a breezy
sundress. Not limited to one medium or subject,
a swaying palm may be shaped by a swash of a watery
brush and an orange slice is a cleverly manipulated
photo.
Raised in Newport Beach back when the crowds arrived
for summer and left before the start of school .
. . at an early age she opted for paints and brushes
rather than the obligatory Malibu Barbie. Heidi
received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design and
Graphic Arts from UCLA and was hired as an art director
upon graduating. She subsequently teamed up with
a partner, and for nine years was one half of an
award winning graphic design firm.

In 1989, a friend asked
if she would design a print to be used on tropical
theme duffel bags. She did . . . and the graphic
design business morphed into a successful resort
wear company. She spent the next ten years designing
prints for fabrics, the clothes to put them on as
well as a women's resort wear line for a well-known
Hawaii based company. Today, Heidi continues to
design textile prints for a handful of clothing
companies, setting aside a bit more time to paint
for pleasure. She still lives in Newport with her
husband and son . . . enjoying the California coast.
